Economist.com has a feature on IT. Fairly long and fairly depressing. Their premise is that because technology innovation stopped/failed delivering business benefits, IT is at the end of its expansion. “Maturity” marked by commoditisation of technology and labour is to be expected.
On the other hand there are people who still think that we haven’t reached maturity yet and that there is still a space for further growth.
All this may seem like an angels-on-the-point-of-the-needle discussion, but if you work with IT or in the IT industry, it probably has serious long-term employment consequences.
